Q – I have materials that need to be translated for use in China. I've heard of Mandarin, Cantonese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, but how do I know which I will need?
A – Mandarin and Cantonese refer to the spoken language, whereas Simplified and Traditional refer to the written language. Your requirements will depend on where your intended audience is located: Simplified Chinese characters are appropriate for Mainland China, and Traditional characters are appropriate for most other Chinese-speaking regions such as Hong Kong and Taiwan. However, it's not always that straight-forward, so we’ll work with you to provide guidance as to which dialects to use based on your specific parameters.
